The energy transition in the Kimberley is only just beginning, and it’s our moment to shape what it looks like for our families, our communities, and Country.

This gathering brings together Traditional Owners, community leaders and clean energy partners from across the Kimberley region to set the direction for a First Nations-led clean energy future.

Let’s come together and set the agenda for how this change affects us, our country, our communities and our kids into the future.

This Forum is free for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island peoples in the Kimberley to attend.

This Forum will

Strengthen Traditional Owner leadership in the energy transition in the Kimberley, exploring community ownership and co-investment models that keep decision-making with mob and for community.

Highlight the lived experience of energy use in the Kimberley. Exploring the impacts of unreliable power, extreme heat, high costs, and why change is urgent.

Create pathways for economic development and self-determination, including co-ownership of future energy systems and new opportunities across the clean energy sector.

Explore the impact of current government and energy utility approaches on energy affordability, families and communities.

Showcase First Nations leadership that is already driving solutions through case studies from Western Australia and across remote communities around the country.

Encourage innovation through genuine collaboration, bringing together the energy retailer and remote communities together to create solutions that reflect local needs and priorities.

Establish the Kimberley Aboriginal Clean Energy Alliance, building a strong and empowered Aboriginal-led voice shaping the region’s energy future.
